Image DisplayAbout Badagry Slave Relics Museum, BadagrBadagry is on the south-western edge of Nigeria. Though it is part of the \\\"commercial capital\\\" of Nigeria, Lagos State, it remains a sense of serenity away from the bostling, and rather chaotic urbanisation that envelops the main city centres. Off the route to Nigeria\\\'s major trading border town, Seme, it has quite a rich story of Nigeria\\\'s history dating well into the 19th century complete with physical relics, like the safe that is said to be the first in Nigeria dating as far back as 1856 which still has some cowries in it. There is a slave museum that houses many items and records from the slave trade era, a building that was effectively the holding cell used by slave traders, the slave market site, the first story building in Nigeria, all preserved in quite good conditions. There is also a site one can canoe to for some bird watching, but you\\\\\\\'ll need to rise very early before sunrise to get there. Badagry is about 2 to 4 hours away from Nigeria\\\'s major international airport depending on traffic conditions. Tour guide services are available.
